The 304-hp direct-injection V-6 gets all the attention for now.
The 258-hp base engine is basically a carry-over from the previous-generation CTS, in which it was the optional V-6. A six of equal size to the direct-injection engine—3.6 liters with port fuel injection and variable valve timing
Down 46 horses and 20 pound-feet on the DI engine, the indirectly injected base mill still brings a hearty portion 253 pound-feet of torque. With the test gear strapped on, the six-speed automatic CTS managed a 7.0-second 0-to-60-mph.

From the driver’s seat, an extra 1.2 seconds in a full-throttle blast to 60 are glaringly obvious, but in more measured driving, the difference between the two engines is purely statistical. Both sound fantastic for V-6s, both pull hard all the way to their 7000-rpm redlines without noticeable straining.
The nicely weighted steering wheel responds to requests with the slightest of delays off-center, provides real feedback about what’s going on with the front end.
The CTS’ reworked exterior is certainly up to the challenge. The new model’s combination of refinement and muscularity kicks the competition in their collective crotch. While plagued with the same sky-high hemline and buffalo butt of the previous iteration, the new CTS benefits from two inches extra length at both ends.
The new 2008 Cadillac CTS wraps you in safety and technology. What’s more, with a host of CTS accessories, the car proves to be even more functional.

Experts in ergonomics agree that standard massaging lumbar front seats installed in Cadillac CTS help melt away the strain of the day or the miles. This system activates a continuous roller system, gently massaging your muscles in ten-minute cycles.
The car has front and rear ventilated disc brakes, ABS, traction control, front side-mounted airbags, front and rear head airbags, child safety locks, anti-theft alarm system, dusk sensing headlamps, front fog lights,
dual zone climate controls, front and rear reading lights, leather-wrapped steering wheel, leather trim on shift knob and front and rear floor mats trunk light.

General Motors is making another step forward, as they are going to be the distributors of Cadillac in Great Britain, once more. The Dutch distributor Kroymans has been, until recently, the firm that sold Cadillacs in the UK, but failed in doing so, selling poorly in two and a half years. It isn’t the first time Cadillac was supposed to be distributed in Great Britain by an exterior firm, General Motors subsidiary Vauxhall tried in the 1990s to sell the Seville STS, with not much success.

Now, Cadillac intends to wake things to life, and the wagon version of the Saab-based, Europe-only BLS will be released this fall. The team at General Motors intends to use witty marketing plans to make the car sell, and also the arrival of the BLS should make British sellers more aware of Cadillac.

In the past two or so years, in Great Britain, excellent Cadillac models such as the BLS, the CTS sedan and the SRX have been sold in extremely low numbers, no more than 600. The Dutch distributor Kroymans doesn’t even know that number of cars sold in 2007, and that proves just what a bad job they have done. Not to say of the about 300 cars that are still unsold…

Now General Motors has to show what they can do of this critical situation. Saab will have responsibility, most of all. As the average Brit prefers luxury European or Japanesse models, so it will be no easy job. Expanding the number of dealerships is priority number one for General Motors.

Recently, there has been quite some rumour and chat about General Motors. The world-know multinational label is now considering an addition to the Cadillac collection, the 2008 Cadillac STS.Â

The first STS model was lauched in 2004, being an 2005 model. It had two versions that buyers could chose from, a V6 engine and also a V8. The V6 was by far the most popular, as almost 80 % of the buyers went with Cadillacs powered by this V6 engine.

The 2008 Cadillac STS, new generation new enhancements. We are talking about a state-of-the-art 3.6-liter V6 engine, that empowers the Cadillac STS with a stunning 302 hp and 272 lb-ft of torque. That is a value with 47-hp and 20-lb-ft more than the previous model, the 2007 STS. Transmission is pretty much in the American tradition, six-speed automatic, also this is new as the 2007 model had only a five-speed transmission. The direct-injection V6 is also going to be used on the generations to follow of Cadillac CTS, of course with slightly modified features. New 18-inch tires are now moving the Cadillac STS.

Interior is, as expected from a Cadillac, nowhere under excellent. Both exterior and interior have been reinvented, still maintaining the stylish Cadillac line. Grille design is a bit retro, similar to one first seen on the Cadillac Sixteen concept car. The 2008 STS also has a new front fascia and lower intake, that give a plus to style and beauty. Door handles are now finished in chrome, new rocker moldings and side vent. Interior also has more chrome finished on the center stack.

The best thing about the 2008 Cadillac is that base price starts at only about $40,000, almost the same as the 2007 model. From July, you can enjoy this great car at a good price!
