Callaway Cars is an official tuner of the Corvette and just a few days ago they made available two upgrade-packages, one for the C6 and the other for the C16 Coupe and Cabrio.

For $18,500, customers can boost C6′s power up to 580 HP over the initial features of the 430 HP 6.2-liter LS3 V8 engine. This super-engine produces 510 lb-ft torque and it boosts the car to a maximum speed of over 200mph. Buyers can opt for upgrades of the brakes, suspension, tires and wheels.

The new C16 is available in three versions, Coupe, Cabrio or Speedster. The upgrade of the C16 consists of a HP boost up to 650 and a 585 lb-ft of torque, a German-leather interior and high-performance chassis among others. According to Callaway, the C16 reaches a maximum speed of 210mph and 0 to 60mph in 3.3 seconds. The C16 Coupe costs $150,000 meanwhile the C16 Cabrio costs $158,000.

Due to CAFE regulations some cars were put on hold until new instructions. According to Motor Trend, the latest car delayed is the new model of C7 Corvette. Also, GM waits for the CAFE changes to begin the production of the Impala, but until then they might consider a new approach of the C7 to be compatible with EPA regulations. Maybe Corvette should focus to the idea of a more efficient car, lighter and they should bring in the idea of a less-powerful engine. Currently we do not have so much details but we are waiting for an official press release.

You have to know this. The first Corvette ZR1 car has been sold for $1,000,000. For the two-seated car, it was a fierce battle between Jay Leno and Dave Ressler, but in the end the winner was Dave. We remind you that the super-car costs around $99,000, so 1 million bucks may be a little too much. The car features a 6.2 V8 supercharged engine which produces around 620HP. I think we all agree that this is a powerful car and it has an attractive design, but are very happy that a part of the money will go to charity.

This car is a monster, the sound of the 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine makes your heart to beat faster and faster. The design cannot be confused, is impressive that they managed to keep the old looks but they brought new and cool features. Yeah, we refer at the carbon fiber splitter, the roof and the side skirts. The carbon-ceramic disc brakes also drawn everybody’s attention. We have to mention that this car has a number of 620 HP. What more can you say? Oh, the price for this supercar is $100,000.

Talking about roomy, spacious and generally speaking “big bad” cars, ony must consider the 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche LT 2wd. It shares the same platform as the Suburban, only difference being the open-top and minor changes that this modification requires.

The Chevrolet 2007 Avanlanche LT 2wd is powered by a ohv V8 5.3-liter engine, pretty much standard Chevrolet technology. Output is a total of 320 hp, at 5200 rpm with torque of 340 lb-ft at 4200 rpm. Just enough to empower the Avalanche, not exactly a tiny fellow at 5478 lbs curb weight. Transmission is four-speed automatic. Fuel economy seems to have been an important issue for Chevrolet, as the 2007 Avalcnhe LT 2wd has fuel mileage of 17 mpg , EPA combined. We are talking about a 320 hp car of 5478 lbs, so 17 mpg is something !

Even though the 2007 Avanlanche LT 2wd hasn’t as much room as a Jeep, or GMT900 SUVs and trucks, you still can fit in six persons, a good amount of luggage, and still have a nice time driving. Visibility is also a thumbs-up for the Avalanche LT 2wd. Other major improvements are quick steering and excellent suspension, not to be seen too often on a big car. Drivers have complained about the electronic control, which seems to be poorly designed, compared to competitors Lexus and Jeep. Also, headroom is short, but on the other hand the Avalanche LT 2wd does have good legroom and front seats are of genial design. Interior is of top quality, and options of a wide range, as modern as can be.

All in all, the 2007 Avalanche LT 2wd is a nice Chevrolet, “a good big sports car”, as it was described in few words. Released in May, the Avalanche did excellently sale-wise, with base price of only $33,940.

General Motors made an announcement Friday at the Corvette plant in Bowling Green, Ky, telling the world about the new Corvette supercar. Maintaining the new generation Corvette body line, the new standard engine is the recently developed LS3. This new engine is quite rare in the Corvette series so far, as most cars are powered be the LS2.

These changes aim to keep Chevrolet Corvette it front of the high-performance car competition 2008. The new LS3 engine produces 430 hp, being a 6.03 liter aluminum push-rod V-8. There is also planed an optional two-mode exhaust system, that rises horsepower up to 436. Still, the superhigh-performance Corvette Z06 is undefeated, returning in 2008 with 505 hp.

Most interesting is that the pump-up in power is supposed to have no effect whatsoever upon fuel consumption, as emission are lower and EPA certification category cleaner. So the new Corvette remains at 18 mpg city and 28 mpg highway, says says John Rydzewski.

Features that were optional in the past come standard with the new 2008 Corvette: OnStar with navigation, XM radio and mirrors that dim automatically. Interior is also improved, and can be labelled “lux plus”, considering the bright trim on the center console and door sill, as well as the excellent materials used.

The 2008 Chevrolet Corvette goes into production in late July, and sales are to be expected in August. For one reason or another, General Motors have announced no price up to now, but the The 2007 Corvette Coupe starts at $44,995, and buyers should definitely expect the 2008 Corvette to have a higher price..
