Last week at Chicago Auto Show, Lexus unveiled a couple of cars RX 350 and ES 350, both special editions Pebble Beach company. The RX 350 will be available in 3 colors, Classic Silver Metallic, Obsidian Black and Truffle Mica. It features 18-inch wheels, chromed-grille and a special interior.The ES 350 Pebble Beach will be available in three colors, Obsidian Black, Truffle Mica and Tungsten Pearl Silver. It features 17-inch 7-spoke wheels and a combination of wood-leather interior.

These two cars are customized by Pebble Beach for the first time and it’s a proof of the good relationship between Lexus and Pebble which began in 2003. They will produce about 6,000 units of RX and ES which will be available for shipping beginning in late February and mid March.

At the 2007 LA Auto Show, Lexus unveiled the new IS-F. This V8 sedan is set to challenge the BMW M3, Audi RS4 and Mercedes C63 AMG and to make the job done, the Japanese company is set to prepair a new car named by the press IS-F/R. In the pursuit of perfection, Lexus will increase the number of horsepower up to 429 and torque with 4 lb-ft up to 376 lb-ft, also they want to decrease weight with 220-lb. This will be a big achievement for Lexus in the quest to beat the likes of their opponents.

Lexus will put on the new 2008 LX570 a front view monitoring system to increase the drivers view. The system features a 180-degrees side-to-side view from the front of the car. It was designed to help you get back into traffic if your visibility is obstructed by another car, wall, tree or anything else. The monitoring system also has a side mounted camera that provides you a better view bellow the passenger.

The new Lexus LS 600h L is going to be on sale in June this year. This vehicle is incredible! Lexus put forward all effort to create a supersedan, powerful as can be, with the most advanced technological features… and is as pollution-free as possible nowadays.

The 5.0-liter V8 engine produces a stunning total of 438 hp, from two electric motors of 221 hp. With a 5049 lb weight, which is considerable, the 600h L goes from 0 mph to 60 mph in 5.5 sec. The 600h L beats the 6.0-liter V12 of the BMW 760Li, but is topped by other supercars like the Aston Martin DB9 at 450 hp, the Bentley Continental GTC at 552 hp, the Ferrari 612 at 533 hp and the 599 GTB Fiorano at 612 hp.

The hybrid edition goes up to $105,000. Pretty expensive, but on the other hand, what are movie stars for? The car has standard Lexus looks, and that is a step ahead the Toyota Prius hybrid, which was the top choice in hybrid cars up to now. The LS 600h hybrid drive evolved from the system in the Lexus GS 450h, and that also had a predecessor : the RX 400h. So you can say Lexus has quite a history in this domain. Bearing this in mind, and considering also the improved Variable Valve Timing with intelligent electric (VVT-iE) system, and most of all the Advanced Pre-Collision System (APCS), which uses two forward-facing cameras and radar, you can bet all your money that the 600h L will be the supersedan of the year 2008, as they expect to sell more than 30,000…

Lexus is now expanding it’s markets and it’s being sold in Europe, China and Japan, too, excepting from the past, when it was only sold in U.S. and Canada. Now it will compete with other well known and respected brands like Audi, Jaguar, BMW, Mercedes-Benz.

It seems that it made a good deal, by expanding it’s market in Japan, because the Japanese are obsessed by prestige brands. Now Toyota wants Lexus to be appreciated in Japan as other brands, like Versace, Prada, Kate Spade or Marc Jacobs are and will release a new LS ( L-Finesse ) model, the Lexus LF-Sh concept. Currently, The LF-Sh is only a concept, but it is most probably that it will get into production starting 2007. It’s engine is also a V8 hybrid, but yet we don’t know much about it.
