Mazda made an official announcement about the new Mazda2 which will be unveiled at 2008 Geneva Auto Show in March. The new model is a three-door version which has the same dimensions like the five-door version, also the Japanese company said that there will be available the same engine line-up.

According to Mazda, this hatchback mode will attract more customers from Europe. They said that the car weighs about 1,000 kg and apparently the engines have high fuel efficiency and low carbon-dioxide emissions.

In December 2007, Mazda2 was rated 5-stars by Euro-NCAP at their safety tests, also it received an impressive 20 automotive awards.

For Geneva ’08, Mazda prepared other three cars, it’s the Taiki Concept, Mazda5 Hydrogen RE Hybrid and the Mazda RX-8 four-seater-four-doors sports car.

We couldn’t wait to see the Mazda Furai at Detroit Auto Show and we finally show it to you. The design is very attractive, nice curves, they thought at everything. We remind you that the car was designed with the help of Swift Engineering and it has the chassis of a race car, Courage C65. Mazda Furai has under the hood a 20B rotary engine which produces 450HP and it runs on E100-ethanol. The Furai Concept is simply astonishing and we hope to see it on the track or even on the highway.

Mazda is ready to unveil a new version of RX-8 model. They called it RX-8 RS . The unveiling is programmed for Tokyo Auto Salon and the car is supposed to be an upgrade for the RX-8 which can be seen at Detroit Auto Show this week. There is no way that you cannot observe the new taillights and the spoiler, also you should notice bigger air intakes and the 19-inch rims which draws everybody’s attention. Mazda didn’t want to disclose any other information so we have to wait for technical details. Until then you can guess what surprises they can line out.

Mazda Furai will show up for Detroit Auto Show next month. Mazda published a photo a couple of weeks ago and now, Inside Line released more photos of the concept. The car is based on a C65 chassis used by Mazda in 2005 season of ALMS. Furai means ”Sound of wind”(if anybody wants to learn Japanese) and the theme of the sports car is Flow design. Swift Engineering gave a helping hand to Mazda for the final shape. The engine of the car is a 20B based on three rotors, it needs E100 ethanol fuel to unleash the 450-hp. We can’t wait to see this concept at the Detroit Auto Show next month.

Mazda will change almost entirely its design based on the ideas from their design-chief, Laurens van den Acker. His dream cars will be able to hit the road in the coming years. The first model who will have the honour to feature the concept ideas formed in last years will be Mazda3. The face-grid showed on most Mazda’s concept cars will be the starting point in Mazda’s products. Also, their ideas includes Flow design elements who will give the looks of a sports car. We expect this first model to be released in 2009.

The 2018 Mazda3 was unveiled after Mallory McMorrow’s concept had finally taken its final shape. Although it has a futuristic design this model will be an everyday sports car. The theme of this car is “Flow” design elements that Mazda has first presented in concept last year. Franz von Holzhausen and his team helped Mallory to make the dream come true.

Mazda will uncover their 4-door Mazda2 sedan at the Guangzhou Motor Show 2007. This auto show is in China this week. The Mazda2 debuted as a 3-door hatchback in Europe, but China will be the first market of the sedan version with four doors. The car will be produced by Changan Ford Mazda Automobile Co. in China. It’s unknown if the Mazda2 will be sold in other markets besides China. The Mazda2 sedan could be produced in the same places as the 3-door hatchback. Mazda is also ready to unveil the 5-door hatchback version of Mazda2.

On behalf of every car lover in the world, we must say the arrival of the Mazda MX-5 Grand Touring is some news indeed. This convertible with a latest fashion latest tech retractable hardtop is a dream of a car. It is just the car one could call “sexy”, because that’s how it looks to a car maniac when the top is down and the Mazda is speeding at 100 mph on the track. Â

The Mazda MX-5 Grand Touring wins competetion with the Pontiac Solstice, or the Saturn Sky. Under the hood, a 2.0-liter I4 does it’s job pretty well, the total horsepower of 166 hp at 6700 rpm and torque of 140 lb-ft at5000 rpm may seem a bit too low, but for a 2573 lb, curb weight car, it’s good enough. The easy to use, sporty six-speed manual has received only the best remarks so far, by all testers. So drivetrain is good enough, transmission also, stability and friction ok two.. is there nothing to be complained of? Actually, many reviews have noted the noise of the Mazda MX-5, this convertible seems to have a loud engine for this type of a vehicle.Â

Interior is designed in nice, elegant lines. Materials are of good quality, and steering wheel smartly built, making the ride a pleasant and at the same time exciting game. Speaking about room, the two people that could enjoy a ride in the Mazda MX-5 Grand Touring should better not take a lot of luggage, as space behind where the roof folds is limited. Very limited.

All in all, the Mazda MX-5 Grand Touring is a fine, playfull hardtop, that is sure to be liked by the ladies most of all. It goes 26 miles per galon, and costs around $28,000.
