Peugeot is preparing a 308 GT version for the 2008 Geneva Motor Show, called the Peugeot 308 GT THP 175. As you can notice in it’s name, it has 175hp, produced by a 1.6-liter turbo engine, with a torque of 195 lb-ft. Along with it’s power, it’s also good for fuel economy, with 37.1mpg and carbon emission of only 180g/km.

The car can reach 0 to 62mph in 8.3 seconds and also has some more improvements, like the front bumper, rear spoiler, steering wheel, lowered suspension, aluminum pedals and shifter.

Customers can opt for manual or automatic transmission, both coming with six speeds. It will be available in a three-door version, along with a 150hp five-door, with four speeds.

The Peugeot 308 is a good car for it’s handling , with great steering, that is very stable through corners and feels very safe on wheels. The diesel engines are pretty good and smooth, both the 1.6 liter and the 2.0 liter HDi. The petrol engines are gutless, because they are missing a turbine.

It shares the same wheelbase and floorpan with it’s predecessor, the Peugeot 307 and it’s a bit larger than it. The car comes in many models, the hatch, in five and three door, Urban, S, SE, Sport and GT. It has a lot of competition from Ford Focus, Citroen C4, Renault Megane, Volkswagen Golf, Honda Civic and Vauxhall Astra.

The interiors have been definitely improved, with a nice central console and a quality steering wheel, along with the soft touch plastic. Peugeot 308 SE and Sport come with a glass roof, that offer the car a great view. Unfortunately, it has expensive running costs and services, else it was a great car, for it’s price.
