Geneva Motor Show is getting closer and closer, therefore automakers are trying to gain some advantage by releasing some details about their new models. Subaru announced that they will unveil the Legacy and the Outback – both cars will be powered by the new 2.0-liter Boxer Diesel engine.

The design of these models will be very similar to the gasoline-generation, but with the Boxer Diesel logo to stick up from the rear end. The engine is Euro 4 compatible, it produces 147 HP at 3,600 rpm and 258 lb-ft torque at 1,800 rpm.

Personally I am not a fan of Subaru and the new Legacy backs me when I make this statement that it’s not a cool car.

Unveiled at October’s Tokyo motor show, the STI has morphed from a bellicose little four-door into a five-door hatchback. A new variable-valve-timing system and new IHI turbos give the output of the STI’s turbocharged and intercooled flat-four engines.

Subaru sources declined to reveal just how big the bump will be but were willing to admit to “less than 310 horsepower” and a “little less than 300 pound-feet”. The flat-four propels a hatchback that’s slightly bigger than its predecessor.

Expanded dimensions, plus comprehensive body-shell stiffening and extensive work in the area of sound deadening, yield higher curb weights. The new car won’t likely accelerate any quicker than the previous STI (0 to 60 in 4.9 seconds, the quarter-mile in 13.4 seconds).

The other part of the ride-and-quality equation is suspension tuning that’s distinctly softer. As before, the front is supported by struts, but there’s a new subframe-mounted multilink arrangement at the rear. The STI’s resistance to turn-in can be mitigated by the car’s sophisticated all-wheel-drive system, with a driver-programmable center differential and limited-slip diffs at both ends. New to the STI is Subaru’s gimmicky SI-Drive, which includes three different throttle-mapping modes.
The car has a six-speed manual transmission. Braking, with the same big-disc Brembo package is beyond reproach. For 2008, the WRX STi adds an engine immobilizer, a power-steering cooler and a new underbody cover. The newly installed dash board, center console, panel and an array of other features give an appealing look to the 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX STi.

In addition to a security system with engine immobilizer and high-friction seat, the Subaru Impreza WRX STi receives the same updates as the regular WRX.
If your criterion when choosing a car is impressive performance, safety or comfort, the 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX STi fits the bill.

The 2008 Subaru Tribeca gets a new look, a better engine and tons of improvements. The team at Subaru shows it’s got lots of talent, and courage because the new Tribeca concept is a lot more conformist than expected, fact that could put buyers off.

A great step ahead is the engine technology used on the 2008 Tribeca. A brand new 3.6-liter flat-six is to be found under the hood, instead of the old 3.0-liter engine. New is also am active valve control system varies cam timing on both the intake and the exhaust side. This engine has a plus of 600 cc. On regular gasoline, this new engine bursts out at 256 hp, at 6000 rpm. Total torque is of 247 lb-ft at 4400 rpm. From 0 to 60 mph the car does 8.2 sec. The previous engine barely made 215 lb-ft at 4200, with super unleaded gas. Transmission is the same five-speed automatic, but with great improvements like the torque converter and control unit, plus a reduction of internal friction.Gears can now be changed much faster, with smoother downshifts. For it’s class, the Subaru 2008 Tribeca is a real nice drive, smooth and comfortable. The 255/55R-18 all-season tires assure good friction and less lean and flop in transitions.Â

Interior is nothing extraordinary, but good materials and style are the pluses of the Tribeca at this sector. Design has been quite appreciated so far, even if the car might have done well with a “naughty” look. Fuel consumption is very good, for a 4129 lb (curb weight) car, only 18 mpg EPA combined. Seating seven passengers, the Subaru Tribeca goes above it’s class, and could please a wide range of buyers. So future prospects look good for Subaru, the Tribeca being on sale right now.
