Chrysler rips the roof off with the 2008 Sebring Convertible

In the group of all the recent cars-designs, a nice convertible is to be missed. We have supercars, speed monsters, trucks and SUVs, and all that.. and now we can talk about the arrival of the 2008 Chrysler Sebring Convertible, finally. In open-air cars, the successors of this Chrysler Sebring model have been top-choice ever since 1996.

The 2008 Sebring Convertible is exceeding all expectations especially in what concerns room, for it is a midsize convertible that sits four persons, with100 cubic feet space and still has 13.1 cubic feet of trunk space. That is, with the top up, of course, when you lift the top down.. let’s just say the wind that blows in your face is fun enough to compensate the lack of luggage room. The body is also larger, with an extra of 3.2 inches to a total length of 193.8.

The choices for the 2008 Sebring Convertible are vinyl, cloth and hardtop, all using the same system to unlatch, fold and stow at the simple push of a button. The basic model is to powered by a 2.4-liter inline-four rated engine, with only 173 hp at 6000 rpm and 166 lb-ft of torque at 4400 rpm. There are also Touring models with an 2.7-liter V6, still the four-speed automatic transmission responds rather slowly, at least if you drive in twisting roads it does… Chrysler thought it trough and decided to come up with the Limited model, that has 235 hp and 232 lb-ft of torque, from a more powerful 3.5-liter V6, and transmission is six-speed automatic.

Prices for the 2008 Sebring Convertible start from $26,145..and rises if you want to add ABS brakes, telescoping steering wheel, side airbags and others. Considering that this open-air sedan is a Chrysler, and benefits from the label’s qualities, the car will surely be a success, just like expected.
