‘08 Geneva – Jaguar XKR-S Coupe

For the Geneva Auto Show, Jaguar came with a special limited edition – it’s the XKR-S. They will manufacture only 200 products which will feature a 4.2-liter V8 supercharged engine that produces 420 HP, enough for boosting the Jaguar from 0 to 60 in 4.9 seconds.

The XKR-S Coupe is a lightweight sports car, but also with luxury ads: soft-grain leather, Bowers & Wilkins sound system, Charcoal Alston headliner and high-tech instruments.

Toyota Plans To Replace The Lithium-Ion Batteries

Let’s take our eyes off the Geneva Motor Show a little and take our attention to other important things – green cars. Toyota announced that they will begin to develop another project which would replace the lithium-ion battery technology. This may sound surprising considering the fact that the li-ion batteries will not enter mass production before 2010.

Toyota has a plan called Global Vision and by 2020 they will have a hybrid model in every class. This new battery will have to manage 50 miles until it wears out. The Japanese automaker is trying to establish as a leader in the world of hybrid cars so they are working to find new ways of improving the quality of the battery technology.

Audi R8 V12 TDI Le Mans – ‘08 Geneva

Audi has just unveiled their latest R8 concept especially designed for the Le Mans endurance race. Of course the 2008 Geneva Motor Show has been the host for this red beast, which features a 6.0L V12 engine that produces a whopping 500hp and a torque of 737 lb-ft. There isn’t much difference from the V8 version, but the 0 – 62mph has dropped to 4.2 seconds and the top speed increased at 186mph.

The car is finished in Brillian Red which makes it more attractive and it looks like a furious beast. But along with this, it’s also green, being Euro 6-compliant.

Maserati Gran Turismo S At ‘08 Geneva

Maserati has brought a powerful beauty to this year’s Geneva Motor Show, called Gran Turismo S, which sports Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione’s engine. The 4.7 liter C8 produces 440hp and the power is distributed through an MC-Shift gearbox rear transaxle mounted that improves shifting time and weight distribution.

Fortunately this car isn’t only based on power, acceleration and speed, but also on stopping and it features an upsized Brembo brake package, that is already used on the Quattroporte Sport GT S and do a really good job.

Along with it’s great performances, the Gran Turismo S also has stylish wheels, badges and leather interior, that makes it a luxury sportive car. Maserati has done a great job again and unveiled a great car, from every point of view. Visit our gallery to understand what are we talking about.

‘08 Geneva – BMW X5 Vision EfficientDynamics Hybrid Concept

BMW kept its promise and unveiled the X5 Vision EfficientDynamics Concept at the Geneva Motor Show and I am proud to say that we gave you a preview a few days ago. We also have to remind you that this concept car is a hybrid powered by a twin-turbo 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine. The green X5 also features a 1 square meter photovoltaic solar panel mounted on the roof. Check out the gallery below consisting of live photos from the Geneva Motor Show.
